Stretch Mark Reduction

Striae distensae (SD) is called stretch mark.  Obesity and rapid increase or decrease in weight have been shown to be associated with the development of SD. Current treatment methods that could effectively reduce the stretch marks include the fractional CO2 laser and the fractional radio-frequency micro-needling device.  In a study, treating SD with both the fractional CO2 laser and the fractional radio-frequency micro-needling device have demonstrated better clinical outcomes than any single device. Several treatment sessions are required to see good clinical outcomes. More treatments are associated with better outcomes too. In cases of white, silver stretch marks, narrow band UVB lamp could help to disguise the stretch marks by stimulating melanin generation in the lesions.  Clinical proven creams such as Stratamark are usually combined with the above treatment modalities for optimal clinical outcomes.

The above before-and-after photo demonstrates the efficacy of the fractional CO2 laser in reducing stretch marks. For light skin persons, it gives best overall cosmetic improvements including reduction of stretch marks and skin tones than the fractional RF micro-needing device. It resurfaces the skin in addition to the collagen fiber stimulation on lesion area. It works well for skin types I-III and less efficient on dark skin types.

The above before-and-after photo demonstrates the efficacy of the fractional RF micro needingCO2 device in reducing stretch marks. It does so by sparing the damages to epidermis skin layer. It has significant less down time. It works well on all skin types I-VI.

The above before-and-after photo demonstrates the efficacy of the UV light in treating stretch marks. It does so by stimulating melanin generation on white stretch marks. It works better on dark skin types.
